Leslie van Schalkwyk started out baking from home with her sister in 2012, where she then followed her dream and passion for cooking and baking. She went to study at Prue Leith Chefs Academy and graduated with a Grande Diploma in 2013.
She then started working and gaining experience in varying aspects of the industry from cake decorating to catering. With lots of love, hard work and long hours, she was able to quit her job in late 2017 and began her full-time career as baker and caterer.
The Grand Opening
In 2018, Vanilla Bean Catering was born, offering a wide variety of services ranging from wedding cakes, birthday cakes to catering for corporate events and ready-made frozen meals.
